Volcanic wines – A retrospective tasting

How to follow an Ilfestia? Well a retrospective volcanic tasting of course!

Three reasons to book onto this tasting:

  1. You missed Ilfestia and did not get to experience these special wines.
  2. You enjoyed Ilfestia and the volcanic wines but did not get to taste them all (or want to try them again!)
  3. You love volcanic wines and simply want to taste and find out more

An In Store Pour exploring wines that are grown in and around volcanic soil, and the unique influence and issues that arise from growing grapes and wine making in such conditions.

ilfestia

This year, our annual outdoor event embraces the idea of the Volcano and Volcanic wines. Inspired by our trip to Vin Itago on the island of Tenerife, and borrowing the name from the Santorini festival, Ifestia, we welcome people to enjoy the courtyard whilst sipping some amazing wine.

This ticket is for General Admission – it includes a glass of wine on arrival and a tapa of papas arrugadas with mojo sauce.

Wine Flight: £15 per person

Three glasses chosen and paired with each course.

My thoughts are to start with something from Sicily. Catarratto is often described with a citrus and apple character, and ansonica from the south a more salter, sharper style should pick out the classic garnishes of both dishes.

A high altitude Argentine Chardonnay should be rich and textural to compliment the artichoke (often criticised as difficult wine match)

We can finish with either a glass or red wine or sweet wine.

To introduce the new list, we’ve selected six wines to go with a little bit of chat about why we’ve chosen them. View the full list here <-

Then from 8:30pm Chris invites you back to the Quarter Bar for drinks and food.
