It’s 2015 and Patrick Ligeron achieves his lifelong dream of acquiring a vineyard in his birthplace of the Côtes du Jura.
Pretty much single handedly, he farms eleven pristine hectares in Menétru-Le-Vignoble, with three sitting within the legendary Château-Châlon appellation (Jura’s unofficial ‘Grand Cru’)
Patrick’s wines have the unmistakable character of the Jura, but also a crystal clear purity of fruit and as a result stand among the best the region has to offer.

Following on from our Spanish Makado and Greek Agora. The Fête du Corse is a celebration of the Mediterranean Islands.
For just £10 a ticket - come and enjoy a relaxed alfresco evening. Serving the food & wines of Corsica and Sardinia against the backdrop of our beautiful Courtyards.
Your ticket secures you a glass of wine and an appetiser on entry.

This summer let Fredricks take you on a trip to the Mediterranean Islands of Corsica and Sardinia.

Fete du Corse is your chance to wander the courtyards, enjoy a chilled glass of the famed Vermentino Di Sardegna, or the 1769 Rosé from the Corsican estate of Domaine Vico - 400 metres above the coast on a sandstone hill, surrounded by forests and mountains.
Whilst we may have to imagine the mountain forests - we’ll be serving up plates of charcuterie, wild boar salami and sausages. Water melon and feta salad, dishes such as civet de sanglier (wild boar), cassoulet, flan a lafarine de châtaigne (chestnut tart) and panadas.

Entry to the courtyard is by a £10 ticket and gives you a glass of wine on arrival and an appetiser.

The beauty of Corsica - a mountainous Mediterranea

The beauty of Corsica - a mountainous Mediterranean island that has a mix of stylish coastal towns, stunning coastline, dense forests and dramatic craggy peaks. Although part of France since 1768, the fourth largest island in the Med, still retains a distinctly Italian culture.

Due to its variety of soil types and altitude, Corsica produces a wide range of wonderful wines. With mild winters and long hot summers, Corsica has less rain and more sunshine than anywhere on mainland France meaning that the growing season is long and harvesting conditions usually excellent. This, paired with the local flavours of the island, gives rise to fantastic taste sensations.

Fête du Corse is a celebration of such taste sensation. Why not join us at Fredricks on Saturday 27th July 6-9pm for an evening of food and wine sitting in our pretty yard.

Experience a relaxed ambiance and enjoy a range of Corsican and Sardinian wines by the glass, or try other interesting wines from our shelves with no corkage fee.

Dishes such as Civet de Sanglier (wild boar), Cassoulet, Flan a la farine de châtaigne (chestnut tart) and Panadas will be available to purchase, with cheese and charcuterie from the shop also available.

May promises to be a busy month for us all here at Fredricks. Off the back of our Ribero del Duero In store pour last week we have answered the call to run a few more informal wine evenings in the shop. As the weather warms up we may even be able to spill out into the yard.

Tickets are now live for our next event where we have been inspired by the famous Comté tart served at Soho’s Noble Rot. Pop along and enjoy but don’t forget to book a £10 ticket to reserve your seat and food.
Wine by the glass will also be being sold on the night.

Did you know…..?

Altitudes of between 730-1100 metres, nature, and the passing of time have given the soils of Ribera del Duero exceptional characteristics - silty or clay sands with alternating layers of limestone and calcareous concretions, on which the vines take root to deliver the best fruit.

Reserva and Grand Reserva reds #riberodelduerowine offer aromas of stewed fruit, a result of oak aging at a medium intensity level.
Their appearance is clear, slightly cloudy with colours ranging from rust red to purple red.

Jorge Monzón is shaking up the way Ribera del Duero’s wines are seen. He studied viticulture in Bordeaux and Burgundy, his first position was at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, before moving to Spain where he worked a year at Vega Sicilia.

Our next In Store Pour on Friday 26th April 5-7pm focusses on wines from Ribera del Duero.

This region, which has always had an ancient wine making heritage, has been established as an appellation for just over 4 decades now. It is famous for its range of soil types, altitudes and zones which give wines that are vibrant, interesting and dynamic, and truly reflect this enormous diversity.

The appellation extends along the Duero River and is located on the northern sub-plateau, between Madrid and the Cantabrian mountains.

A region producing mainly red, bottled quality wine, Ribera del Duero is considered to be one of the leading wine regions in the world.
