Butiner ‘Vin Nature’ 2021 Beaujolais Villages
The Château de la Terrière has stood in Cercié since the 16thcentury and is one of the oldest estates in the region. Located in the heart of the historic Beaujolais, facing Mont Brouilly, the property and its vines spread southwards over a volcanic hill, giving the wines a unique character, as most of other vineyards in this appellation are planted on sandy soils. Their approach is very traditional – from planting clover in between the vines to fix nitrogen in the soil and to limit the weeding, to harvesting by hand in small trays to keep a high quality of the grapes.
Beaujolais is one of the most up-and-coming areas in France, mainly driven by the emergence of fantastic young natural wine producers. The vine age is an average of 50 years old which make an incredibly concentrated style of Beaujolais. This Beaujolais-village is from the Lantignié and Régnié villages which have a reputation for producing delicate, fresh, floral styles of Beaujolais. This wine is the ultimate expression of the Gamay grape.
£89 for a case of six bottles. Individual bottles may be available in store whilst stocks last.

Cheese & Wine Hamper (1bt wine + 1x cheese)
What grows together, goes together.
This tiny co-operative has 40 hectares of vineyards in total. The Sauvignon Blanc vines for this wine are located on the flint and clay soils of the Loire Valley, in the Valençay area. The flint in particular imparts the characteristic mineral quality on the wine, while patches of sandy and limestone topsoils over very stony and clay subsoils add richness and depth.
The Wine
Light lemon yellow in colour, with aromas of citrus, gooseberry and white peach on the nose. On the palate there is an attractive depth of flavour, with notes of lemon, green apple and white peach offset by a charming mineral tone throughout. A crisp acidity carries the wine to a refreshing and elegant finish.

Kewin Descombes ‘KeKe’ 2022 Beaujolais
It is that time of year again when we all turn our thoughts to Descombes fils’ vin de primeur. Last year’s wine sold out quickly, with latecomers scrambling for whatever few bottles could be spared, so please pre-order early to avoid disappointment. And we are pleased to reveal that with the cost of so many things rising steeply at the moment, Beaujolais Nouveau isn’t be one of them as we’ve managed to offer this for just 30 pence more than last year.
This is always a cut above the norm for Beaujolais Nouveau with an extended elevage and therefore depth of flavour that goes some way to explaining its perennial popularity – that and Kéké’s stupendous talents and access to the prime cuts of Morgon Gamay.
This is a pre-order six bottle case offer for delivery on or after Thursday 17th November.
Orders need to be placed before 14th October, for availability on Thursday 17th November. A small number of single bottles maybe available in store.

“I love the restraint in this one…freshly crushed berry fruit, good grip and a very long finish with garrigue and pepper.”

Michel Girard Sancerre ‘Silex’ (6bts)
If ever there was a wine that tasted of the soil in which it was grown, this is it! Philippe Girard’s Silex Sancerre opens with a crackle of gunsmoke and earthy, stoney notes. The full palate is lively and expressive with pronounced minerality and a long, long finish. Fantastique!!
Vignerons de Valençay, Sauvignon (6 pack)
Sébastien Vaillant has joined forces with his friend Damien Boisseur to form the Vignerons de Valençay cooperative. With just Sébastien and Damien as members, this is the smallest co-op in the Loire, perhaps even France.
The 100% Sauvignon Blanc ‘VdP du Val de Loire’ offers unrivalled value. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, it is a fruit-forward, bright and zippy expression designed to be drunk while young and fresh.
Vignerons de Valençay, Sauvignon (Case Offer)
Valençay has held official AOC status since the 2002 vintage. It was the first French region to receive AOC classification for both wine and cheese, with its distinctive pyramid-shaped goat’s cheese pairing perfectly with Valençay white wines.
Vignerons de Valençay comprises 40 hectares of vines planted on the hillsides surrounding the Cher River, with a good proportion of silex (flint) soils. Silex is greatly prized within the Loire and produces some of the region’s finest, and most mineral, wines.
FREE CHEESE: Each case of twelve bottles comes with a complimentary goats cheese from the same appellation
The cheese alledgedly gets its truncated shape from an incident involving Napoleon, a sword and a tantrum – whatever, there is no mistaking this blue-grey, chopped-cone shape.
Characteristics: natural blue/grey rind with a velvety texture; woody aroma; fresh nutty flavour with a delicate mousse like texture that melts in the mouth.
